Deep Dives is a snapshot of our society in 2022. A re-imagined, post-pandemic world in which microconnections made on social media have given new substance to the mingled yarn of life. Pebbletank has overtaken Instagram, the #ourhouse agenda has tuned us to Britain's global unpopularity, the UN's Truth Amnesty is seeking to reclaim the dominion of facts. Meanwhile, everyone is re-evaluating their own aspirations and sense of worth.

The aftermath of the pandemic sparked take-up of the Pebbletank Deep Dive option, in which subscribers offer the chance to share an aspect of their lives with a selected follower, like a curated experience on Airbnb but more personal. Ten characters are connected to varying degrees through Pebbletank – each advertises a deep dive meet-up and they take place across the year. Different kinds of network are at play – technological, emotional, historical, geographical – intertwined by a trail of pebbles. But which profiles are real and which are fake?
